Gregg E. Graening, LUTCF, RTRP, AFSP – President

Gregg has over 37 years of experience in various financial service fields and tax preparation fields. Specializing in tax issues affecting churches, clergy and other non-profit employer – employees, he is recognized by numerous church, educational and government institutions as a leading authority in clergy tax law, clergy Social Security and pension issues.

In response to a call to “serve those who serve others,” Gregg incorporated his successful sole proprietorship on February 2, 1989. Frequently asked to consult with attorneys, accountants and church leaders, Gregg has led tax seminars – contributed articles to professional journals – researched and provided clients for a denomination’s successful IRS determination letter – developed plan documents and payroll systems in use by 36,000+ churches – is named on the legal advisors reference list of two major denominations – has clients in twenty-seven states and multiple countries ordained by ten denominations.

In addition to founding GSFS, Inc., Gregg is a co-founding member of Conquer The Code, LLC (CTC). He currently serves as Chief Development Office. CTC involves collaborating a wide range of tax professionals for the common purpose of improving the profession. The new firm is involved with various continuing education organizations, tax publications, professional firms of all size and type, and tax agencies to enhance the tax profession’s culture toward correctness of positions taken while improving productivity for the benefit of the practitioner, taxpayer, and the government.

A 1980 graduate of Asbury University with additional course studies through the The American College of Financial Services, Gregg became one of the first insurance
professionals to complete the three year Life Underwriter Training Counsel Fellow (LUTCF) designation. He holds appropriate licenses when providing Financial Services and Retirement Planning. He is listed in Strathmore’s Who’s Who.  Additionally, Gregg was a 33 year member of and a LUTCF instructor for the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA). He was a 26 year member of, a four year Certified Instructor for, and a 2 year Chapter President of, and a member of the month for the National Association of Tax Professionals (NATP).

Gregg’s hobbies include reading, politics and eschatology. Gregg’s passions are teaching, travel by motor coach, gadgets and gizmos, and building “connective betterment” styles of long term relationships with others.

Debra S. (Debbie) Graening, RTRP, AFSP – Vice President

Debbie has over 21 years of experience preparing tax returns with GSFS. She is administrator for the the firm’s operations while managing various “customer solutions” matters. Debbie serves as a Non-Registered Assistant to Gregg E. Graening, LUTCF, RTRP.

Debbie is also a co-founding member of Conquer The Code, LLC (CTC). She currently serves as the CTC Chief Operations Officer and Chief Financial Officer.

While Debbie’s employment background is varied, she has experienced Church employment as a Youth and Education Director. This experience has created within Debbie a great deal of compassion for those working within the Church and non-profit employer sectors.

Debbie’s hobbies include playing Internet board games against family and friends. Debbie’s passions are her dogs, her digital music collection, University of Kentucky Basketball, NASCAR racing, and watching movies with a good bag of popcorn!
